DARRVIN G-POWER

Mid-drive Technology

Darrvin’s Bafang mid-drive motor constantly samples relevant information at a frequency of up to 80k Hz via a torque sensor and two speed sensors which are all highly sensitive. In spite of a generous power output and a maximum torque of more than 80 N.m, the motor operates in virtual silence. The Max Drive System puts the rider in complete control. Not convinced? Book your test-ride on any one of our Darrvin e-bike models and experience the technology for yourself.

Mid-drive Motors are a superior drive technology, optimized for better performance

The single largest advantage that mid-motors have over hub motors is their gear ratio. They allow the rider to power the rear wheel via the same chain and gear set as the pedals, which means that a low gear can be selected for powering up steep hills or accelerating from a stop with massive torque. A mid-drive motor in low gear can climb steeper hills than a hub motor of similar power, and can climb hills for longer than a hub motor, which could overheat on long steep hill climbs.

Bafang recently debuted a new line of mid-drive motors for racing bikes that weigh only 5 lbs (2.3 kg). Smaller and lighter mid-drive motors are often stealthier because they can be incorporated directly into the bicycle’s frame. Many people don’t even realize that a mid-motor bike is an electric bike just by looking at it.

DARRVIN Arrowpack

Capacity

ManagementSystem.jpg

Our Darrvin Arrowpack 500 battery is designed to seamlessly fit inside the down tube of the frame with the smallest possible area exposed. As a result, the capacity of the battery is maximised and the frame design not compromised, this means it still looks like a bike instead of a shopping trolley. The Arrowpack is simple to insert and remove despite its super secure interface. As a bonus we made sure that the battery pack is directly compatible with all our current models. Our system is 48V with 10.4Ah current.

Management System

ManagementSystem.jpg

The DARRVIN Arrowpack has a sophisticated battery management system (BMS) that controls all of the functions like charging and powering the motor optimally. The BMS also ensures that the battery does not get damaged when discharging and extends its lifespan through protecting individual cells built into the unit. The Arrowpack has a LED display to indicate its condition, while it simultaneously displays the charge on your bicycle computer while you ride. All this is seamlessly integrated with the other eBike components to provide the ultimate riding experience.

Battery Lifespan

Battery.jpg

There are a few things you can do to ensure greater performance and a longer battery lifespan:

  • Generally, you can charge the battery at any percentage, but it is important to fully charge the battery the first time, out of the box.

  • Hereafter it’s advisable to do a full-charge-cycle, once every three months.

  • When you’re not using your e-bike for a few days, its best to store the battery off the bike during this time. It doesn’t need a full charge to be stored off the bike - or when you put it back. The battery performance will be unaffected.

  • If the battery goes into storage for more than a couple of weeks, it should be charged to around 60% rather than a full charge, prior to storage. This will protect it from reduced capacity that a full charge may cause during a prolonged storage period.

  • In all instances, the battery can be charged on, or off the bike. There is no advantage of one method over another.

  • A full charge cycle can take approximately 4-6 hours. Temperature and age are factors that play a role in the required charge time. Under normal conditions, our power-charger will see you out the door in under 4hours.
